Acting / Singing / Masterclass
Hamish brings 15 years experience working in education in New Zealand and parts of Asia to TTANZ as one of our head tutors.
A trained primary school teacher, Hamish started performing in Invercargill over twenty years ago and has a wealth of experience in Shakespeare and musical theatre. Invercargill performance highlights include Amos in Chicago and Eddie in The Rocky Horror Show.
Since moving to Auckland in 2013, Hamish has performed in Mamma Mia, Honk, The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee and various Pride Festival events and shows during this time. He is also a regular performer for touring singing company Operatunity.
Hamish has spent the last 4 years developing his skills as a director. Highlights include A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver, Hungover (An original piece with Co-Writer Nomi Cohan) and 2 seasons of Avenue Q in Auckland and Gore, with the Auckland season seeing him awarded Best Director at the 2014 NAPTA awards.
Hamish has a huge passion for education and the arts and this passion has seen him work with some of this countries most exceptionally talented up and coming musical theatre performers.
In 2017 Hamish had the honour of being director of CCMT Emerging Talent Workshop. A 10 day full intensive in Auckland which sadly no longer exists. But he had the chance to develop a curriculum based on his many years of educational work. It is based in a place of self and peer reflections.
This is something Hamish been excited to bring to TTANZ workshops over the last 2 years and is excited to share it with the next generation of performers.
Hamish is a proud member of Equity New Zealand
